VISIONS

VISIONS  is a projected digital image trophy competition which, until further notice will be held annually.  It is specifically aimed at individual competitors from any PAGB affiliated club.  There is also the option for 3 competing individuals to be registered as a club team for a separate trophy.

The individual trophy is presented by XRR PS and is not returnable, but the Club trophy is awarded by Chiswick Camera Centre (see Links) and must be returned each year.

The first Visions event, Visions 2011, took place on Wednesday 30th November in the Cedar & Sycamore halls at the Stanborough Centre Garston. (See Location Map). The judge for the event was Kevin Herbert. 80 individual photographers from 23 clubs entered with 12 club nominated teams.

The first two images of an individual’s entry (160 images) were pre-judged and audio visual sequences were shown at the start of the event, showing both the images and scores achieved.  The individual’s third image (also to be used as tie breaker in the event of ties for the trophy positions) was judged live and the trophy winners determined on aggregate scores.

Kevin did a magnificent job, scoring the images decisively, emphasising throughout that the scores reflected his individual opinion. All images were to a high standard and judging had to be necessarily severe in order to separate.  

Aggregate scores were very close, but in the end, somewhat to our embarrassment, XRR won the club trophy and Bill Cooper, an XRR member, won the individual, although only after a tie break decision.  

We were pleased to see so many individuals enter this new event, although we do have a capacity for circa 100 and hope to achieve that in future years. We were slightly disappointed that only 12 clubs nominated teams, but feedback at the event indicated that more would be competing next year.
